Flower Painting with Debbie George

Flower Painting with Debbie George

Debbie George is a well-known artist, based in Holmfirth, whose work is inspired by her passion for flowers and the objects with which she surrounds herself - from ceramics to fruits, feathers and stones. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries nationally, and she has a strong following worldwide.

Working with the ancient medium of gesso, with which she primes her panels, Debbie will teach her technique of building up layer upon layer of paint to create a wonderful luminosity and depth. She then scratches into and through the layers to emphasise form. By doing so she expresses subtle tonal and sculptural qualities.

Clem's Garden is thrilled to be hosting this very special workshop in May, where Debbie will share her love of painting flowers and guide fellow flower lovers through creating their very own still life flower paintings.

The flowers that will inspire the artwork will be picked fresh from our cutting beds, which sit within the grounds of Briarcourt - a beautiful Arts and Crafts building designed by Edgar Wood.

Homemade lunch and refreshments will be provided, and places will be limited so that everyone will have the chance to learn - whatever their level of painting experience.
