Echoes of a Market

Echoes of a Market

Echoes of a Market begins with the installation of a Listening and Recording Pod, a place to capture memories, stories and sounds of market life and our relationship with place.

In November the space will transform from Pod to mini Sound and Visual Art Gallery, featuring work created by artists in response to the collected moments and contributions of community.

Open every Tuesday and Wednesday and select Saturdays from September 5th to November 30th and during Temporary Contemporary Happening events.

A series of community workshops will accompany the project on the following dates:

Wednesday 18th September - 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Saturday 21st September - 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Wednesday 25th September - 2:00pm - 3:30 pm
Saturday 28th September - 2:00pm - 3:30 pm

Wednesday 2nd October - 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Saturday 5th October - 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Come along for an informal conversation about your experiences of the market led by local artists. For further information and to book email or visit Parlour at Queensgate Market.

With thanks to artists and creative practitioners: Alice Bradshaw, Chris Ruffoni, Stephanie Pogson, Dave Kane, Cheryl Holland, David Velez, Victoria McCorkell and the local community and traders at Queensgate Market who contributed to the project.

The project is supported by Kirklees Council and Temporary Contemporary.

With thanks
