Natalie Deane

Natalie Deane Arts Education Consultant

I am currently employed part time as a Specialist Lead Teacher for Art, Craft and Design at Battyeford Primary School in Mirfield, Kirklees. This role has enabled me to create a national profile for art education at Battyeford. My projects and schemes have been featured in a Good Practice guide to Primary Visual Art by OFSTED and recent film education work in conjunction with Kirklees based practitioner Fabric Lenny and Big Voice Media, has resulted in national awards and international film festival screenings for my school. I am currently a member of the National Expert Group for Visual Art, Craft and Design Education meeting in London to provide teaching resources and information to support the implementation of the new National Curriculum. Prior to returning to teaching in the UK I worked as the project Manager of the International Artist Retreat - Cill Rialaig, Co. Kerry, Eire and have formerly held several Senior Arts Development Officer roles in Local Government across three North West LA's.

In addition to my current teaching role I undertake freelance training, funding advice, project management, workshops and additional advisory services to individual schools and arts organisations. Current freelance clients include Early Excellene, Cape UK, YPO, Middlewich Folk Festival, North Yorkshire County Council and a range of partner schools.
