Partition, 70 Years On – a creative writing workshop

Tuesday 10 October 2017, 1-3pm
Oastler Building, Room OA5/10
University of Huddersfield

Poetry, novels, films and plays have been some of the most effective ways in which the experiences of Partition have been looked at. As part of the 70th anniversary of the Partition of British India, this workshop offers participants an opportunity to think about what borders mean and if you had to leave your home what you may leave behind and what you may take with you.

The workshop will be led by the writer Aoife Mannix and participants will be using copies of original maps and documents provided by The National Archives to write their creative responses to Partition.

The workshop is open to everyone (you do not have to have a link with Partition or South Asia). The workshop will be two hours long and no previous writing experience is required.

The event is kindly supported by The National Archives, the University of Huddersfield and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
