New Film Season Announced at the LBT

The LAWRENCE BATLEY THEATRE HUDDERSFIELD are bringing three contemporary gems of world cinema as part of their Women Under Pressure film series this summer.

The first in the series is VICTORIA, an epic thrill ride through the Berlin night. Victoria, a newcomer to the city from Spain, encounters a new group of friends on a hectic Berlin night. Flirtation and fun, however, becomes more than Victoria bargained for as the group’s night takes a high-risk and potentially deadly turn. ‘An extraordinary experience, raw and exciting’ (Time Out), VICTORIA is at the LBT on SUNDAY 22 MAY at 7.30pm.

On THURSDAY 30 JUNE at 7.45pm, the LBT present OUR LITTLE SISTER. It’s a meditative and sweet Japanese film that celebrates sisterhood, family and the simple beauty of everyday gestures and actions. The Telegraph said, 'Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda's lovingly crafted small-scale family drama is full of characters you won't want to leave behind'.

Described by The Guardian as ‘a sweet, sad Turkish delight', MUSTANG is Oscar nominated, set to be one of this year’s most talked-about films. Five fiercely independent sisters, up against the social traditions and family values of small town Turkey fight back against the iron fist rule of an overbearing uncle. It shows at the LBT on THURSDAY 21 JULY at 7.45pm.

The LBT recently acquired Pilot Audience Development Funding from Film Hub North to bring back specialised film to Huddersfield through LBT Screen. Huddersfield has previously never had a venue for world and independent cinema, with people having to travel to Leeds to see new non-blockbuster cinema.

VICTORIA shows at the LBT on SUNDAY 22 MAY at 7.30pm, OUR LITTLE SISTER is on THURSDAY 30 JUNE at 7.45pm and MUSTANG is on THURSDAY 21 JULY at 7.45pm. Tickets are priced at £7, with an offer of all three films for £18, saving £3. Book tickets via the LBT box office on 01484 430528 or online at
