LBT@LBT Young Leaders

Are you aged 12-19? Want to help us explore the exciting and dramatic history of the Grade II* listed building that is currently home to the Lawrence Batley Theatre? We have funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Young Roots Programme and we need you to be a part of bringing this rich local heritage to life!

Dive into archives and research at Heritage Quay, support original artwork from Globe Arts Club members, help build a booklet created by young people with National Citizens Service Huddersfield, and create a theatrical heritage event at the LBT in August.

As an LBT@LBT Young Leader you will carry out research through historical archives at Heritage Quay at the University of Huddersfield and discover hidden gems about the building since its construction as a Methodist Mission in 1819 through to how it became a theatre in 1994.
You will learn about…
• The impact the building has had on the local community over the past nearly 200 years
• The incredible community effort that was needed to transform the building into a theatre

As a Young Leader, you will have opportunities to…
• Link with local cultural VIPs who helped establish the theatre
• Compile research and images and stories
• Earn a Bronze or Silver Arts Award
• Shape your learning into an interactive event for friends and families to attend in August

The fee to be a Young Leader is £50.00. Please complete an application form and send it back to the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Queen's Square, Queen Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2SP by Friday 14 July 2017.
