Kirklees Libraries: Summer Reading Challange

Kirklees Libraries: Summer Reading Challange

Kirklees Libraries, in partnership with the Reading Agency and the Science Museum Group, are excited to introduce Gadgeteers, Summer Reading Challenge 2022; a celebration of reading, science and innovation.

You can sign up at any library, choose your reading goal (we recommend six books), then read any books of your choice to collect special stickers and other rewards along the way – all for FREE. There is a digital platform too, so the fun can carry on at home!

Events include:
Code Bop Session
Come along to our fun digital storytelling and be introduced to the world of coding with our code toys. Age 5 – 7

Morse Coding
Come along to our gadget workshop. You will be making your own telegraph key and learn Morse code and practice messages. There will also be lots of fun mastering a variety of methods used to code messages. Age 7-10

Junk Robots
Come along to the library to create your junk robot and see how far they can race. Age 7 – 10

Mini Professors
At Mini Professors we show science is fun and hope to instil a love of science from an early age.
We use hands on experiments, storytelling, interactive introductions, bespoke video and more to get children fully engaged, excited and create those wow moments!!
We’re excited to be running sessions in libraries with hands on experiments this summer!!

Gadgeteers Laboratory of Dreams
Join us for a drama workshop exploring your most magical inventions and bring them to life.
