I am running drop in family sessions are Batley Art Gallery during the Vintage Day with a group of other amazing artists!

I am running the rag rug making and screen printing onto textiles.

AM (10am to 12.30pm)

Rag Rugs – learn rug making skills by helping to create a large rug which will be displayed in the gallery after the event, or make your own small rag rug piece.

Vintage Signwriting – paint your first name or surname in the style of a traditional hand-painted shop sign, using tracing techniques to create a professional finish.

‘Painting the Town’ - using archive photos of town centre building past and present, help us to create a vision of Batley town centre in its heyday.

Handweaving - design and create your own small hand woven using a mixture of wool, fabric & recycled materials, with applied details (sequins etc)

‘Make Do and Mend’ crafts – create simple decorative hearts and flowers, using buttons, scrap fabric and a few simple stitches.


PM (1.30pm to 4.00pm)

Peg Dolls and Bobbin People – using pegs, bobbins and recycled materials, create your own character doll in vintage costume. Bobbin People activity suitable for the very young.

Vintage Trimming and Fascinators – learn techniques for creating trimming to adorn your vintage outfits, or create your own fashionable fascinator.

Screen Printed Tea Towels – hand-print and take away your own vintage-style tea towel.
