no dirt no beauty

no dirt no beauty

My Gran used to tell me "you have to eat a peck of dirt before you die". And, more and more, impurity seems to be important. From vaccination onwards we seem to need to be exposed to the bad so that we can survive to experience the good. When an idle ponderance led me to discover that snow crystals are only formed when water too pure to freeze by itself comes into contact with dust or pollen, it gave me the final bit of evidence that our modern lives of anti-bacterial sprays and manic hoovering are excluding a vital part of a complete life - dirt.

Without imperfection we cannot be complete.

Take that Plato! Your world of forms is less than perfect.
