The launch event to celebrate MUSiK, the new brand, identity and online hub for Music in Kirklees took place last week.

In addition to unveiling the branding and identity for Music in Kirklees with a sound/visual presentation, the accompanying new website went live - providing an online hub for all the work, projects and events that are happening as we look towards the ‘Year of Music in 2023’.

The event took place at Bassment, a successful music venue which pays homage to Huddersfield’s Sound System culture of the 1960s – 1980s. Co-founder/owner, Jake Burdass shared his experience of setting up and running not only the venue, but also their recently launched Bassment Unplugged programme of training in music production and music business mentoring for young people.

The sound track for the evening was created by Bassment’s resident DJ and tutor, Shaun Dean, and there were a couple of ‘sneak peeks’, including a new film being produced by Yorkshire Sound Women’s Network and the website for the TOWNSOUNDS project.
