Acrylic Painting and Palette Knives with Miriam Laville

Acrylic Painting and Palette Knives with Miriam Laville

Workshop Details
Acrylic Painting with Palette Knives
Choosing either landscapes or natural forms this art workshop consists of working solely in acrylic paints, using painting knives, straight edged plastics, thick cardboard and thin wood. We shall be learning different techniques to apply the paint on canvas/ board. The results will be compositional experimental and a little abstract!

About the Artist
The passion and inspiration for Miriam's artwork is the investigation and response to natural forms: their complexities of line, texture, shape and colour, represent a uniqueness which she aspires to evoke and visually debate in her work. She experiments with various media, building up surfaces in certain areas of the paintings using sand, collage materials, oils and oil pastels: leaving other parts of the painting simpler with just drawn black lines. She explores the use of the colour in her images by instinct, sometimes to compliment and other times to oppose, producing diverse results.
Miriam studied and completed B.A. Hons Degree in Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Metropolitan University in 1994. She exhibits regularly and works in Leeds and the Yorkshire area, facilitating art workshops organisations such as The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds City Council, Education Leeds, private care homes and approved premises.
